A CIRM funded post-doctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Therapeutic Micro and Nanotechnology at UCSF under the direction of Dr. Tejal Desai. This interdisciplinary project is in the area of cell encapsulation and immunomodulation for the delivery of stem cell derived insulin producing cells.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent academic track-record, including first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability the work across disciplines. Successful candidates should have, or be in the process of completing, a PhD (or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field. Ideal applicants should have a background in tissue engineering, biomaterials, drug delivery, surface chemistry, immunoengineering, and/or cell encapsulation. Experience working with islets/beta cells is a plus. Applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
