Registered Nurse - SOM Ob/Gyn-Center for Reproductive Health (CLIN NURSE 2) @ UCSF Medical Center
Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Center for Reproductive Health and Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Registered Nurse (RN) performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients.
The RN collaborates with the physician in providing excellent clinical care to the reproductive health patients. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. The RN demonstrates competence in the management of patient flow and daily peri-operative operations. The RN shall comply with the medical center house and telephone standards. S/he provides expert nursing care to the patients receiving assisted and non-assisted reproductive techniques.
These duties include patient instruction and discharge teaching; charting and documenting in appropriate records; administering and monitoring medications; assisting with procedures; communicating all patient scheduling needs with practice staff; and coordinating patient care between the various practice teams. S/he will assess patient needs and in collaboration with the physicians plan interventions; evaluate patient response to treatments; admit, recover and discharge patients. The RN will work collaboratively with the HA staff, anesthesiologists, MDs, RNs and embryology team: and participate in the EMR/APEX process.
In addition, may be routinely assigned to float to other CRH clinical care teams and in collaboration with the physician, nursing and administrative staff, the RN will assess health needs and perform functions specific to unassisted and assisted reproductive techniques as well as andrology, gynecological treatment patients, and male Urology patients. S/he will assess patient needs, then plan, evaluate and participate in care for patients/couples. S/he will utilize specialized knowledge and skills for evaluation and teaching within this patient population, and may act as a resource person within the organization and/or community. S/he will consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor. The RN shall comply with the Medical Center house and telephone standards.
The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
- Minimum two years RN clinical/perioperative experience
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR certification
- Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
- Successfully completes Moderate Sedation Module
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment, detail oriented, flexible with excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work weekend/holiday coverage with variable weekday shifts
- The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required
