The purpose of the site is to answer questions commonly asked by university administrators, career development professionals and faculty from around the US, when consulting OCPD staff about launching new career and professional development initiatives.
In 2001, UCSF established a centralized Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD). Since then, OCPD has worked in tandem with its professional schools and academic departments to offer career development training to UCSF's populations of graduate and health professional students and postdoctoral scholars (collectively called "trainees").
This site's goal is to facilitate benchmarking efforts for fellow institutions, and to highlight some OCPD best practices, including an organizational strategy to sustainably serve UCSF's 4,000+ trainees, an educational approach focused on developing innovative, evidence-based interventions, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering and modeling a high functioning, supportive work culture to our campus community.
