Overview
Flagship Pioneering invents and builds platform companies that change the world, including Moderna, Indigo Agriculture, and Lila Sciences. The Flagship Pioneering Fellowship is a paid, full-time summer Fellowship (June-August) that provides an unparalleled opportunity for creative, entrepreneurial scientists to immerse themselves in Flagship’s unique approach to inventing and building disruptive science and technology companies.
Format
This session is offered both in-person at Mission Bay and simultaneously on Zoom. Please indicate how you plan to attend when you register. Food will be provided for in-person attendees.
Speaker
Monica Cesinger, PhD, joined Flagship Pioneering as an Associate in 2024 after participating in the summer fellowship. She is a bacterial physiologist by training and received her PhD in 2022 from University of Washington. As a postdoc in the Martinez-Gomez Lab at UC Berkeley, Monica explored how microbial rare earth trafficking could be repurposed for biomining and pursued her interests in biotechnology entrepreneurship through participation in the Berkeley Postdoctoral Entrepreneurship Program, the 5050 program, and NSF I-Corps. In her current role she focuses on biotechnology company creation to enable resilient agriculture and sustainable resource management.
