Getting feedback on your faculty application materials

October 12, 2022
4 - 7 p.m. PT

If you've already written your CV and Cover Letter and want feedback on them, this workshop is for you. Participants will be paired together and will use a checklist based on the Academic Career Readiness Assessment (ACRA) to give and receive constructive feedback on their CV and Cover Letter. I will facilitate this process, provide additional feedback, and answer questions. We do not review application materials in one-on-one counseling appointments, so if you want feedback on your CV and cover letter, please come to this workshop.

To receive the Zoom link and attend this workshop, you must do three things by Monday October 10 at 5 p.m. PT:

1. Watch the Applying video series (steps 1-5)

  • We won't be covering this material in the workshop. We recommend that you cover it on your own whenever you are writing your application materials.

2. Prepare your materials:

  • Create a Google document
    • Title: "Workshop materials - First name Last name"
  • Copy your materials into that document in this order:
    • Cover Letter
    • Job description you are applying to
    • CV
    • Note: We will not be reviewing Research, Teaching, or Diversity Statements, but we will discuss how to get feedback on them.
  • Fill out this Google form
    • This is how we know you intend to come to this program

3. Share your materials:

  • Share your document with [email protected] as an editor
    • Note: During the workshop, your materials will be shared with your peers such that they will not be able to download, print, or copy them.
  • Share by Monday October 10 at 5 p.m. PT
  • People who complete the Google form AND share materials will be sent the Zoom link for the workshop the morning of
