Organizing a Nursing Job Search

Once you've narrowed down your career options, it is time to organize your job search. A search can take 1-12 months, depending on the position you seek, and the market. But there are things you can do to use your time and resources effectively.

  3. Read the APN Job Search Guide given out at Epilogue.
  4. See where APN positions are posted.
  5. Write your resume, CV or cover letter.
  6. Prepare for your interview.
  7. Visit the UCSF/OCPD Job Board.
  8. Pursuing an academic career? Visit our applying for academic jobs pages.
  9. Make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss strategies for more complex issues such as career exploration, mock interviews, job search strategies, and offer negotiation (for an RN, APN or PhD position).
