The Job Search

Once you've narrowed down your career options, it is time to organize your job search. A search can take 1-12 months, depending on the position you seek, and the market. But there are things you can do to use your time and resources effectively.

  5. Write your resume, CV or cover letter.
  6. Prepare for your interview.
  7. Visit the UCSF/OCPD Job Board.
  8. Visit the SFSU School of Nursing Job Board.

  10. Connect with UCSF School of Nursing alumni by joining the UCSF Alumni Network on LinkedIn.
  11. Attend an Application Materials Clinic to learn how to create and customize your application materials, then book a 20 minute mini appointment to review the final edits for your document. Mini appointments are offered M-F.​
  12. Make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss strategies for more complex issues such as career exploration, mock interviews, job search strategies, and offer negotiation (for an RN, APN or PhD position).
