This program is for first year students in basic and biomedical science PhD programs at UCSF. We recommended it for first-year PhD students at any point in the process of lab rotations!
Overview
Wondering about doing a 4th rotation, what to do if you didn’t like your first two rotations, or how to evaluate and compare labs? OCPD’s Researcher Team – Drs. Ray Care and David Blancha – will be joined by senior students from various PhD programs to answer your questions on the topic of choosing a thesis lab.
Note on our Choosing a Thesis Lab offerings:
This Q&A session is an opportunity to ask specific questions or hear the stories of students who have already navigated this choice. It complements our Choosing a Thesis Lab Workshop, which is a time to get some guidance and focus on assessing your own thesis lab options. You are welcome to come to one or both of these events - we’d love to see you wherever is best for you!
Format
Bring any questions that you have, or just come for support and community with others going through the same process. Multiple career consultants and peer mentors will be on hand for conversations and questions. Feel free to drop by anytime during the hour, or stay for the whole time. And bring a buddy!
Coffee and snacks will be provided.
