Preparing for an Academic Career for Basic and Biomedical Scientists

The Office of Career and Professional Development has built out a complete curriculum to help you prepare, apply, interview, and negotiate for an academic faculty position. We offer videos, resources, workshops, and 1:1 counseling all based on what hiring committees really look for in faculty candidates. Let us help you be successful!

So you're interested in an academic career...

Fantastic! We've developed a tool to help you assess and improve your competitiveness for faculty positions. ACRA - the Academic Career Assessment Readiness Tool - is based on a research project that surveyed faculty on hiring committees to determine what skills and experience were common among highly rated and selected candidates. With that data, we developed a curriculum designed to prepare you for a faculty career every step of the way.

Here's the process:

1. Plan using ACRA

2. Train using our programs

3. Go for it

Our academic programs are designed to develop the competencies you need to prepare and apply for faculty positions

Training requirements from ACRA for different institution types and the OCPD programs that provide that training
