Life Cycle of a Mentoring Relationship

There are 4 stages in every mentoring relationship, as detailed in the section below.

The best place to begin your mentorship journey is by understanding the 4-Stage Mentorship Developmental cycle to every mentorship relationship.

One important thing to note is that the life cycle of a mentoring relationship is a parallel process between mentor and mentee.  Those who get the most out of mentorship take the time to familiarize themselves with both sides of the relationship - mentor and mentee.

This brief framework can help both mentors and mentees begin to assess their knowledge and skills for each stage.  For more practical help building or navigating your mentorship relationship, schedule a 1:1 counseling appointment with an H-team Career Counselor.
